Custom Fabrication Studio — Massachusetts

About VARØ Industries

The shop. The maker. The obsession.

One Company.
Many Obsessions.

VARØ Industries is the parent company — the umbrella under which everything lives. Custom fabrication, content creation, software tools, a music label. It sounds like a lot, because it is. But it's not a conglomerate. It's one person with too many skills and not enough hours, channeling every obsession through a single brand.

What started as a fabrication studio grew into something harder to categorize. The shop produces custom physical goods. The content arm documents the process. The apps solve problems that didn't have tools yet. And somewhere in between, a music label happened. All of it traces back to the same source: a drive to build things that didn't exist before.

If you're here for the custom work, you're in the right place. If you want to see behind the curtain — the builds, the failures, the process — that's what The New Janky Workshop is for. And if you stumble across Primary Field Recording Device, that's the music label. Yes, really.

Custom Fabrication

Wood, metal, leather, and digital fab. CNC routing, laser work, 3D printing, welding, hand stitching. The physical core of what VARØ Industries does — made-to-order, made right.

The music label imprint of VARØ Industries. Because apparently running a fabrication studio and a content channel wasn't enough.

Meet the Maker — Geoff

The origin story starts with Halloween. Before any of this existed, there was a garage, a friend, and an increasingly unhinged collection of animatronic props. That turned into The Garage of Evil — a prominent online resource for home haunters who wanted to build their own scares. It was the first hint that making things, and sharing how to make them, was where this was headed.

Before making became the main event, Geoff designed and managed the website for The New Yankee Workshop — yes, Norm Abram's show. He built their early e-commerce platform and created video content for the site. "I had access to Norm and didn't fully leverage it. Still thinking about that one."

The actual making started many years ago. Built a deck with a friend. Caught the bug immediately. Bought tools. Started making furniture — benches first, then everything else. COVID accelerated the whole thing in the way it did for a lot of makers: suddenly there was time, and suddenly the shop got a lot more serious.

Now it's woodworking, metalworking, leatherwork, laser cutting and engraving, 3D printing, CNC routing, content creation, software, and yes — a music label. Based in Massachusetts, not far from Gillette Stadium. "Keyboard monkey" by day, maker by night.

The philosophy is simple: build things that solve problems, make things you actually want to own, and be honest about the process. Some of it comes out perfect. Some of it comes out a little janky. All of it gets made.

"Sometimes a bit janky. Definitely not THE Norm."

Built, Not Bought.

There's a particular satisfaction that comes from making something with your hands and then using it every day. Not because it's cheaper than buying it — it usually isn't — but because it's exactly right. The dimensions, the material, the finish. Made for the specific problem, not a close approximation of one.

That's the philosophy behind VARØ Industries. Not every project is a masterpiece. Some are utility pieces. Some are experiments. Some work perfectly and some teach lessons the hard way. But they're all made with intent — designed to solve a real problem or fill a real need, not to look impressive on a shelf.

"Built, not bought" isn't anti-consumerism. It's a commitment to craft. To the idea that objects can be worth keeping, worth repairing, worth passing on. That's what gets made here, and that's what goes into every custom order.
