Privacy Policy
Who we are
Junk Text Filter is made by VARØ Industries (varo.industries). Questions about this policy can be sent through our contact page.
What the app reads
With your permission, the app uses Android's notification access to read notifications posted by the messaging apps you choose to watch (Google Messages by default). From each of those notifications it reads:
- the sender's name or phone number, as shown in the notification
- the message text, as shown in the notification
It reads this only to compare it against the filter rules you set up. The app asks for your agreement on an in-app screen before it sends you to Android's settings to grant notification access, and you can revoke that access at any time in Android settings.
What the app stores
All of the following is kept in the app's private storage on your phone:
- Your settings and rules — the words or patterns you choose to filter.
- A log of filtered messages — for each message that matched a rule: the sender, the message text, the time, and which rule matched. The log keeps at most the 300 most recent entries.
Messages that don't match a rule are not stored.
What leaves your phone
Nothing, automatically. The app does not request internet access, so it cannot send data anywhere. It contains no analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or other third-party services that collect data. Its data is also excluded from Android cloud backups and device-to-device transfers.
The one exception is something you start yourself: if you tap Report to 7726 on a logged message, the app opens your own messaging app with that message's text filled in, addressed to 7726 — the spam-reporting number used by US carriers. Nothing is sent unless you press Send in your messaging app, and what happens after that is governed by your carrier's privacy policy.
Sharing
We don't sell, share, or transfer any data, and we never receive it — it never leaves your device.
Keeping and deleting your data
Data stays on your phone until you remove it. You can delete the log at any time from Caught messages → Clear log, delete individual rules in the app, or remove everything by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
Children
Junk Text Filter is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date. Because the app collects nothing, a change could only affect what happens on your device, and we'd note it in the app's release notes.
